Breadcrumb structured data

Enhances navigation by showing the user’s position within the site hierarchy in search results.

Breadcrumb rich snippet result in Google Search

A breadcrumb trail on a webpage indicates its position within the site hierarchy, helping users better understand and navigate the site. Starting from the last breadcrumb in the trail, users can move up the hierarchy step by step, making it easier to explore the site effectively.

How to enable Breadcrumb rich snippets?

To be able to turn on the Breadcrumb schema from the AC Rich Snippets:

  • Navigate JSON-LD Schemas page

  • Click the Turn on button from the Breadcrumb schema settings tile

  • That's all!

Once you enable the Breadcrumb Schema, the structured data will be activated.

The Breadcrumb Schema also comes with an additional feature: Breadcrumb Navigation!

If your store’s theme doesn’t already include a Breadcrumb Navigation feature, this option is for you.

After activating the Breadcrumb Schema, you’ll see an 'Additional Features' option appear next to the button.

Additional breadcrumb features

Additional Breadcrumb features are optional and will help you display breadcrumb navigation on your collection, product, blog, and article pages, offering customers an easy way to trace their path back to their original landing point.

Click the Additional Features link to access the Breadcrumb Navigation configuration page. From there, you can manage whether to display the breadcrumb trail on product, collection, blog, article, search results, and other pages like About and Contact.

Additional breadcrumb features

Since this feature relies on an app block, you need to add the AC Breadcrumbs app block through your theme customisation settings to the page where you want it to appear.

If AC Breadcrumbs app block is not added to the template you turned on, you will see an information about it. Click Activate link to go to the Theme Editor and add the block.

Now, in the Theme Editor, look at the left sidebar and find the section where you want to add custom fields. Click Add Block, then switch to the Apps tab. Here, you’ll see AC Breadcrumbs—select it to add the block.

That's all!

From that moment on, your customers will be able to navigate pages using the breadcrumb trail
